The Board – by Artscapades

Artscapades encourages other peers at schools to create art and express themselves. The artworks are then collected and put up for display each month in the respective school. This is a great medium to leverage an open, free and judgement-free platform to nurture artistic and creative abilities.

The AUGUST EDITION includes artworks from Grades IX to XII. The paintings displayed various art styles like realism, abstract, cubism, and so on; making use of different mediums like watercolour, charcoal, acrylic, soft pastels and much more.

The artists for the month are Hannah Thakkar (Grade 9), Neev Tehalyani (Grade 9), Rucha Patel (Grade 9), Hitanshi Patel (Grade 9), Gurvi Patel (Grade 10), Vishwa Soni (Grade 11), Jahnvi Patel (Grade 12), Shreyansika Singh (Grade 12), Nainal Dad (Grade 12), and Rudra Patel (Grade 12).

Weatherproof Roofs for the Underprivileged

Weatherproof Roofs for the Underprivileged

Sharing empathy for the underprivileged and striving to bring a ray of light to their reality, we sought to secure a roof they could call ‘home’. With the true feeling of ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’, we began our drive to buy weatherproof roofs and shelter.

Through fundraising, we raised a significant amount to purchase the shelters to help out the underprivileged, especially during monsoon. The drive was spread out over 2 days. On the first day, 8th Aug ‘22, we distributed 70 shelters and another 80 shelters on the second day, 10th Aug ‘22.

Overall, Artscapade successfully distributed 150 shelters to the underprivileged, helping and impacting 100+ families of 350-400 people.

Weekly Rendezvous

Weekly Rendezvous

Artscapades organised a weekly meet-up on the 10th of July 2022. We all gathered with great expectations at the venue, Lalit Kala Academy in Ahmedabad.

Everyone brought in some of their art supplies and educated other members about the art mediums they often used. We also discussed our favourite art mediums and art styles.

Moving ahead, we decided to work on individual artworks while exchanging ideas and exploring different concepts and colour schemes. It was a very insightful session, and we thoroughly enjoyed meeting like-minded people, developing ideas and expressing emotions through art.

Visits to Hutheesing and Archer Art Galleries

Visits to Hutheesing and Archer Art Galleries

Artscapades organises visits to renowned art galleries to explore art and learn about the nuances that separate a good piece of art from a great one. We discuss the mediums used, the colour combinations, the composition, strokes and techniques. We also exchange views and perspectives about the messages each work conveys at great length. We often come across different meanings the art held for each one of us.

We recently organised two such visits, at Archer Art Gallery and Hutheesing Art Gallery.

At Hutheesing, we visited the exhibition on ‘Code Decode- Where Art Intertwines with Technology”. It was a group show art and installation exhibit by 33 artists in the memory of Indian ceramist and potter professor Jyotsna Bhatt. While the exhibition had fantastic art installations, we also learned that each artwork consists of an embedded QR code.

The visit turned out to be a great learning experience for us, not only in understanding new art forms but also in using technology to expand our website.

At Archer, we explored numerous editions for some of the most popular and in-demand artists of the day, including M. F. Husain, S. H. Raza, Jogen Chowdhury, Manjit Bawa, Manu Parekh, Madhvi Parekh, Thota Vaikuntam, Amit Ambalal, Jyoti Bhatt and many more.

Art Campaigns

Art Campaigns

Out of many initiatives, Artscapades also raises funds to support the underprivileged while exploring different forms of art. Our community of young art enthusiasts aims to uplift the underprivileged by organising fundraising campaigns. Some of the ways we have used these funds in the past have been by providing weatherproofing roofing material for slum dwellers and by distributing art kits to children.

Artethon

Artethon

Artscapades organises an Artethon, a day-long event dedicated to painting—a day entirely devoted to our love for paintings. Artethon is an event in which we all art-enthusiasts sit together with our canvases and art tools to celebrate our love for art. Usually, all the group members generally sit in their personal spaces to draw, while Artethon is an event that brings us together and paints. Hence, a family that paints together, thrives together. Moreover, the pictures painted in this event are then used for fund-raising purposes.

Artscapades Cinemascope

Artscapades Cinemascope

Artscapades organises occasional movie screenings of films based on art and artists. The group enjoys watching films such as Lust of life, The Agony and the Ecstasy, Frida and Maudie. Such screenings result in a series of debates regarding the artworks of these famous artists. From simply adoring the colours and hues in a painting to having healthy discussions on the perspective behind them, such events have brought a certain level of maturity to our art.

Artscapades - The Virtual Visual Art Gallery

“Artscapades”, a virtual art gallery, was launched to showcase the artworks of young artists. “Artscapades” is a mirror that reflects the imagination of a creative mind on a canvas. Friends and family gaily celebrated artworks showcased in this corner, while the launch itself became a proud moment for the artists. The virtual art space has become a happy space for art lovers to come and interact while witnessing creative minds at play.
